Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

FixitFirst is operated by ForgeSights ("we," "us," or "our"), an independent software developer. You can reach us at privacy@forgesights.com.

This Privacy Policy applies to the FixitFirst iOS application ("the App") and describes how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use the App.

2. The Short Version

FixitFirst does not have user accounts, does not run a backend server that stores your data, and does not sell your information to anyone. The diagnostic notes you type stay on your device and are sent directly to your chosen AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity) — not to us. We have no access to your diagnostic data.

3. What We Collect

Because FixitFirst has no user accounts and no backend data server, we collect very little:

  • Nothing you type. Your vehicle information, symptom descriptions, DTCs, and case notes are processed entirely on your device. They are never transmitted to ForgeSights' servers. When you tap "Run Diagnostic," the App formats your input into a prompt and opens your selected AI app directly on your device using a standard iOS URL scheme. We never see or store this data.
  • Subscription status (via Apple). We use Apple's StoreKit 2 framework to verify your subscription. Apple processes all payments and communicates only a receipt token to your device. We do not receive your name, payment method, card details, or billing address. Your purchase history is managed by Apple, not us.
  • Crash and diagnostic data (if you opt in). If you have enabled "Share iPhone Analytics" in iOS Settings, Apple may share anonymized crash reports with us through App Store Connect. These reports contain device type, iOS version, and a stack trace. They contain no personally identifiable information. You can disable this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

4. Third-Party AI Services

FixitFirst formats your entered vehicle information, symptoms, DTCs, and notes into a structured diagnostic prompt. When you tap "Run Diagnostic," the App opens your selected AI assistant — ChatGPT (OpenAI), Claude (Anthropic), or Perplexity AI — with that prompt via a standard iOS URL scheme or universal link.

Your prompt content is transmitted directly from your device to the AI service you have selected. ForgeSights is not in the path of this transmission. We do not store, log, or receive your prompts.

Each AI service is an independent third party with its own data collection, retention, model training, and privacy practices over which we have no control. We encourage you to review the applicable privacy policies:

If you do not wish to share your diagnostic data with a particular AI service, do not select that service in the App's Settings.

5. Subscriptions

FixitFirst offers auto-renewable subscriptions (monthly and annual) processed entirely through Apple's App Store. The following terms govern subscriptions:

  • Subscriptions are charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
  • Free trial periods, if offered, convert to a paid subscription unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial period ends.
  • You can manage and cancel your subscription in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions.
  • We do not collect, receive, or store your payment information. All billing is handled by Apple. For Apple's payment terms, see apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/.

6. App Store Privacy Nutrition Label

In accordance with Apple's App Privacy requirements, FixitFirst's App Store listing discloses the following:

  • Data Not Collected: We do not collect contact information, health data, financial information, location data, user content, identifiers, usage data, or any other personal data from users through our own infrastructure.
  • Apple may collect anonymized crash diagnostics if you have enabled "Share iPhone Analytics" in iOS Settings. This collection is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

7. Children's Privacy

FixitFirst is a professional diagnostic tool for adult automotive technicians. The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at privacy@forgesights.com.

8. Data Security

Because we do not operate servers that store your personal data, there is no central database to breach. Your subscription receipt is stored locally in your device's Keychain, protected by iOS system security. Your settings and vehicle pack selections are stored in your device's local storage (Core Data / UserDefaults) and, if you have iCloud enabled, in your personal iCloud account under your Apple ID — subject to Apple's security and privacy standards.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

We do not retain your personal data on our servers because we do not collect it. All App data (settings, pack selections, prompt history if applicable) is stored on your device or in your personal iCloud account. To delete all App data, simply delete the App from your device. Your iCloud data can be managed through iCloud.com or iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage.

To request deletion of any data we might hold (e.g., if you contacted our support team), email privacy@forgesights.com and we will respond within 30 days.

10. California Privacy Rights (CalOPPA / CCPA)

California residents have rights under the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA) and, where applicable thresholds are met, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Because FixitFirst collects no personal information through its own infrastructure, most of these rights have limited practical application.

  • Right to Know: We collect no personal information through our servers. See Section 3 above for full disclosure of what minimal data is involved.
  • Right to Delete: Delete the App to remove all locally-stored data.
  • Right to Opt Out of Sale: We do not sell personal information.
  • Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy rights.
  • Do Not Track: This App does not track users across third-party apps or websites for advertising purposes and does not respond to Do Not Track signals because no tracking is performed.

11. European Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the following applies under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable local data protection laws.

Legal Bases for Processing:

  • Contract performance — Subscription management via Apple StoreKit 2 is necessary to provide the paid features you have purchased.
  • Legitimate interest — Receiving anonymized crash diagnostics (if you have opted in through Apple's analytics) to maintain App stability.

Data Transfers: If crash diagnostics are shared via Apple's analytics, they may be processed on servers in the United States. Apple's data transfers are conducted under Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can review Apple's data transfer safeguards at apple.com/legal/privacy.

Your Rights Under GDPR: You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (Supervisory Authority). To exercise any right, contact privacy@forgesights.com. We will respond within 30 days.

12. Third-Party Infrastructure

FixitFirst uses Apple's App Store infrastructure for distribution and payments. It does not integrate any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or crash reporting services beyond what Apple provides natively. No data is shared with data brokers, marketing platforms, or advertising networks.

13. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and note the change in the App's release notes on the App Store. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
